The woman who had been heading Ozark West Elementary has surprised parents and co-workers by resigning in the middle of the school year.
Sharon Underwood went on paid leave December 13 and gave her resignation to the school board less than a week later. She will remain on paid leave until the end of the school year.
Her salary is just under $99,000.
Parents were notified of Underwood’s departure in a message sent from the district’s executive director of elementary learning. The parents were also informed of the interim appointment of Gina McBain to Underwood’s previous role.
Attempts to reach Underwood by OI were unsuccessful.
