If you love to head to a Missouri lake or river to fish for trout, be ready to spend a few extra dollars in 2020.
The Missouri Department of Conservation is raising the costs of annual and daily trout licenses.
The annual trout license for someone 16-years-old or older will increase from $7 to $10. Youth licenses will rise from $3.50 to $5. Daily tags at Missouri trout parks will rise one dollar for both categories, to $4 for adults and $3 for children.
The MDC attributes the rise in the fees to increased costs for fish hatcheries, including repairs of damage from flooding in recent years and rises in utility costs.
The state’s five fish hatcheries release about 1.7 million trout into Missouri waterways each year.
First announced in August, all changes will become effective on February 29, 2020.
