Accidental Shooting at University Plaza Sunday

Springfield police say that someone was “accidentally” shot at the University Plaza Hotel on Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel on John Q. Hammons Parkway after 911 call around noon reported that someone had been shot. Officers arrived to find a man with a non-life threatening wound.

The man refused to cooperate with police and officers could not determine if the man shot himself or if someone else shot him. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The man claimed to be part of a group that was on a trip through the area.

With the victim unwilling to cooperate with officers, there were no arrests made in the shooting.
