Kickapoo High School is being recognized for their efforts on behalf of a local blood bank.
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has given the school their Aspire Award as one of the area’s biggest blood donors. The school has hosted four blood drives in 2019, collecting 293 donations.
“Service above self is the first thing I think of when I think of our students and our blood drives,” KHS principal Dr. Bill Powers said in a statement. “Taking one hour to donate blood for those in need, right here in the Ozarks, ultimately can help extend the life of an unknown person due to selfless act of being a blood donor. I’m so proud of all our students and staff who help plan, volunteer and donate the gift of life at Kickapoo.”
The school was given the award during the CBCO’s annual volunteer banquet.
