The Drury swimming & diving program won both PNC GLVC Athletes of the Week for swimming & diving as senior Aidan Glynn and sophomore Bec Cross were both honored by the league for their performances last weekend.
Glynn helped the Panthers to a first-place finish in the 400 Free Relay in Drury’s dual at Missouri State on Saturday. Glynn swam his leg in 45.66 as the team finished with a time of 3:04.66. The native of Flower Mound, Texas, was also third in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.17. Glynn was also part of Drury’s second-place 400 Medley Relay team and led off the event completing the Backstroke in 50.94. The award marks the first time in Glynn’s career he has been honored as the conference’s Athlete of the Week in swimming.
Cross finished first in two events and second-place in another in Drury’s dual against Missouri State on Saturday. Cross helped the Panthers win the 400 Medley Relay swimming the Butterfly leg in 57.60, and the team posted a time of 3:54.01. Cross won the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.88, then finished behind only teammate Bailee Nunn in the 200 IM (2:08.26) to come in second. Cross’ award is the second time this season she has earned weekly honors from the conference. She was named the GLVC Athlete of the Week for women’s swimming on Nov. 13.
Drury women’s swimming has won the GLVC’s weekly award three times this season. Yasmin Preuss was named the PNC GLVC Athlete of the week on Oct. 9, and Cross has won the honor twice.
Glynn is the second Drury men’s swimmer to win the league’s award this year. Caleb Carlson picked up honor on Nov. 13.
The Panthers return to the pool Jan. 11 against Hawaii and Minnesota in Manoa, Hawaii.
