When the Eagles swoop down on the gridiron next fall, they’ll have a new leader of the convocation.
Nixa Head Football Coach Richard Rehagen announced his retirement as head of the program at the school’s football banquet. Rehagen had lead the team for 11 years after spending 14 years as an assistant coach.
“We are sad to see coach Rehagen retire,” Nixa Activities & Athletic Director Brandon Clark said in a statement. “His service to our school district will not be forgotten, and I truly appreciate everything he has done for our football program.”
Rehagen finishes his career with an overall record of 80-57, including a 5-6 season last year. He lead the team to its only state championship appearance in 2014. He also lead the team to final four appearances in 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2015.
Rehagen is a science and physical education teacher on top of his coaching position.
The school district will now begin a search for a new coach and hope they can announce a new coach in the spring.
