Off to an 8-0 start, the Drury Lady Panthers remained the number one ranked team in the NCAA-II women’s basketball coaches poll this week. Drury went 2-0 last week with a 93-58 win over Southwest Baptist on Dec. 3, then picked up a 100-56 victory at home against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday.
Lubbock Christian (8-0) remained at number two in the poll while Grand Valley State (8-0) is ranked third. Ashland (7-0) moved to a number four national ranking, and Lee (9-0) also cracked the top five moving up two spots to fifth. Teams from the Midwest Region make up three of the top five teams in this week’s poll.
Drury is the only team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference ranked in the top 25. Lindenwood received votes in this week’s poll.
The poll marks the 100th week in a row the Lady Panthers have been in the top 25, the longest such streak in the nation, it is their 38th straight week in the top 10, and their fifth consecutive week at number one.
Drury is idle until Dec. 19 when they face Eckard in the Terrace Hotel Classic hosted by Florida Southern in Lakeland, Florida.
