A Springfield man convicted by a jury of pulling out his daughter’s hair and beating her until she had black eyes, busted lips, and bruising over her entire body will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Kenneth Robert Davis was sentenced to two life sentences plus fifty years behind bars without a chance of probation or parole.
Judge Thomas Mountjoy handed down the sentence Friday.
Davis had been found guilty on seven counts of child abuse in September. Greene County Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie Wan recommended the maximum sentence for each guilty count, which was accepted by Mountjoy. Davis’ public defender asked for a 10-year sentence.
“You won’t be inflicting that on anyone else in this community or any other community for a very long time,” Mountjoy told Davis in reference to his daughter’s testimony in the case.
The victim in the case is now living with a foster family and prosecutors say that she has recovered from the physical abuse.
Davis is also facing murder charges in connection with the beating death of two-year-old Kinzlea Kilgore. Trial for Davis on that charge will take place in Dallas County in June.
