Former Saturday Night Live cast member Brooks Wheelan will be in Springfield this weekend for shows at the Blue Room Comedy Club.
Wheelan was most used on SNL as a commentator during the Weekend Update segments, relying on his stand-up comedy routines to provide humorous “public service announcements.” He lasted one year on the venerable comedy show.
He’s been a stand-up comic since his teen years in Iowa, moving to Kansas City and then Chicago before committing to a full-time comedy career in Los Angeles. He’s appeared on Comedy Central, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Conan.
Wheelan is also the host of a podcast, Entry Level with Brooks Wheelan. He talks to a guest about low-paying or entry level jobs that people worked before they obtained success in the entertainment industry.
Wheelan will be performing Friday night at 7:30 p.m., and two shows Saturday, 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $25 online through the Blue Room website; $10 more at the door the night of the show if the show is not sold out.
