A former Webster County deputy has admitted engaging in child sex crimes.
A trial for Brent Grey on multiple charges was set to begin Monday, but he pleaded guilty late Wednesday.
Grey pleaded guilty to first degree child molestation, possession of more than 20 images of child pornography, and sexual exploitation of a child by creating child pornography.
Grey’s defense team had been trying to suppress evidence from his iPhone which included multiple child porn images. Investigators found the phone in the bottom of Grey’s closet. When the Missouri State Highway Patrol paid a company to unlock the phone, over 1,000 photos were discovered.
Judge Calvin Holden denied the motion to suppress and allowed the phone to be entered into evidence.
He could face five to fifteen years on each of the class B felonies.
