Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole celebrated his birthday in a way he never anticipated when he woke up that morning; spinning out the vehicle of a man who held a Nixa homeowner at gunpoint earlier in the day.
A woman called 911 to report a man entered her home and held her at gunpoint while he took some items. The woman gave a detailed description of the gunman’s truck to emergency services who then sent the description to all local officers.
Sheriff Cole heard the description and a few minutes later ended up behind the gunman’s truck. The gunman fled when Cole tried to stop him, leading deputies on a chase north on Highway 65 into Springfield.
Cole used a tactical move to spin out the truck hear Harter House just off Highway 65, and the gunman then rammed into Cole’s patrol car.
Other deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were able to subdue the suspect and take him into custody.
Items taken from the woman’s home were recovered from the truck.
Cole was taken to a hospital as a precaution due to minor injuries but was released.
