If you’re someone who likes to spend time in the kitchen working up new tasty dishes, the Springfield Fire Department wants to make sure you know how to handle things if something spicy gets a little too hot.
Cooking-related fires are the number one cause of house fires and fire-related injuries in the city according to SFD statistics.
The SFD will be hosting a kitchen safety demonstration on Monday at Fire Department Station 8, 1405 South Scenic in Springfield, starting at 3 p.m.. The goal of the event will be to help provide tips for the best ways to put out a variety of cooking related fires.
There is no registration cost to attend the event.
