The head of the Greene County Democratic Central Committee announced Thursday night that he would be leaving his position on November 27th.
Skyler Johnson said he has accepted a position with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
“My family and I would like to thank all of the wonderful people that have touched our lives; those that have laughed with us, mourned with us, celebrated with us, and commiserated with us,” Johnston said in an email to party members. “We will continue to live in Springfield, so you are not completely rid of us. We will be around to join with our wonderful candidates and activists on election night as we take back control of our community, our nation, and the very soul of our society.”
Johnston has been executive director of the Greene County DCC for five years. He cited the growth of the party in a time of challenge in his resignation note to party members.
The position will be posted for applications with a closing date of January 3rd, meaning a replacement will likely not be in place until February 2020.
