The Greene County Commission has approved a deal with Webster County that will allow prisoners to be housed in their jail.
Greene County Sheriff’s Office officials told the commission during a meeting Thursday that most of those prisoners will likely be those whose court dates are closer than those housed in other counties.
The county will pay Webster County $45 per day per inmate housed in their jail.
The agreement between the counties limits the transfer for “low or medium” security inmates; inmates with violent tendencies or who could cause extreme risk would not be eligible for transfer.
Commissioners Russell and Dixon approved the agreement, meaning it will go into effect, but left the vote “open.” Commissioner Harold Bengsch was unable to attend the meeting, and leaving the vote open will allow him to sign his approval of the agreement.2019.11.14-Webster-County-Inmate-Housing-Agreement-not-fully-signed
