The Springfield branch of the Salvation Army has announced the opening of signups for their Gifts of the Season program.
The program, for families, disabled individuals, and senior citizens, offers toys and this year also food for those in need. Each household in the program will receive toys for each child, along with hats, gloves, food, and stocking stuffers.
Anyone who wishes to apply needs to bring the following to the Salvation Army:
- Valid Photo ID for person applying.
- Proof of address with applicant’s name; Monthly bill, (utility, phone, bank) dated: September, October or November or a Copy of your current lease or Section 8 paperwork.
- If you are disabled, you must bring your award letter for verification.
Greene & Christian County residents are eligible for the program. Families participating must have children 16 years of age or under, be a household of seniors age 60 and up, or households with disabled individuals.
Sign ups for the program are taking place through November 15, and then again from November 18-22, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m.. Additionally, there will be an evening registration on November 18 from 5 to 7 p.m..
Distribution will happen Thursday December 19.
The Salvation Army notes the participate in the local clearinghouse that prevents duplication of services, so a family or individual that attempts to duplicate services will be disqualified from the program.
