Greene County Commissioner John Russell Announces Campaign for Full Term

Greene County Commissioner John Russell has announced he will be running for a full term as District 2 Commissioner.

Russell was appointed on January 8, 2019 to replace Lincoln Hough, who has won election to the Missouri State Senate.

“I was honored to be appointed by the governor to serve in this capacity for a short term, and I look forward to earning the continued support of Greene County voters as I put my name on the ballot for the 2020 election,” Russell said in a statement.

Russell had never held public office until his appointment by Governor Parson, he has previously served in public service. Russell has previously served on a high level within the state as Deputy Chief of Staff for former governor Matt Blunt.

Russell stated his top priorities for the Commission are trust, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.

“We must approach the budget process with discipline and set priorities,” Russell said. “As with all things, strong principles and ethical guidelines should be the starting point for any business conducted by the Commission. When we lead with integrity, we can accomplish great things.”
