Branson Police Begin Holiday Crime Prevention Campaign

by Melody Pettit

As the Holiday season approaches, the Branson Police Department wants to help prevent residents, visitors and businesses from being victims of crimes that tend to happen more frequently, nation-wide, during the winter months. Starting this Friday on its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/BransonPolice, the Branson Police Department will feature specific topics and crime prevention tips every Friday through the end of December.

Some topics that will be covered are:

  • Warming your car & auto thefts
  • Porch pirates & holiday packages
  • Leaving for the holidays – securing your home
  • Holiday shopping – how to secure your packages
  • Mail safety
  • Scam safety

Each Facebook post will go into detail on these topics and will provide helpful guidelines and reminders about how to prevent these crimes.

“While these crimes are not specific to Branson, we want to be as proactive as possible to make sure our residents and guests are aware that these crimes can happen anywhere. Crime prevention is important and as we enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas season we want to remind residents and visitors to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings,” said Branson Police Chief Jeff Matthews.

Chief Jeff Matthews also encourages citizens to immediately call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
