Students in the program will learn in two specialized classrooms at the Discovery Center that use the exhibits and tools of the Center.
Two teachers work with 40 students in the program focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math.)
WOLF is a program for 46 fifth-graders who have an interest in nature and the outdoors. The program is a partnership between SPS, Wonders of Wildlife, and Bass Pro Shops. Classrooms for WOLF are inside the John A. & Genny Morris Conservation Education Center. Students also spend significant amounts of time outdoors in field experiences.
Eighth-grade students in 2020-2021 will have the opportunity to attend the Health Sciences Academy at Mercy Hospital. The program, open to 50 students, will have those students spending a year at Mercy in a specialized classroom designed to use health care as the focus for learning. Students will learn from different professionals in the medical field so students can determine what health care careers may appeal to them.
