The men and women who have sacrificed parts of their lives to serve our nation will be saluted on Saturday in Willard.
The third annual Western Greene County Veterans Day Parade will take place Saturday, November 2, starting at 11 a.m.. The parade will line up starting at 9 a.m. at Willard High School and anyone who has not pre-registered for the parade should show up at 9 a.m. and organizers will try to work you into the parade.
Anyone wanting to be in the parade must have proof of insurance on all moving vehicles but no entry fee is required.
The parade is just part of three days of honoring veterans in the Willard area.
On Thursday, October 31, Willard Middle School will be hosting their 17th Annual Veterans Day Assembly. The assembly will start at 9:30 a.m. and will end with a luncheon for veterans.
On Friday, November 1, the community will have their first Veterans Stand Down event. This event will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is aimed at providing veterans with a variety of services. Veterans will be able to get free hair cuts, dental screenings, and more. Then that evening from 6 to 8 p.m. the Willard Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their 2nd Annual Veterans Supper at the Willard Community Building.
The festivities honoring our area’s veterans will conclude with a flag retirement ceremony at Jackson Street Park in Willard on Saturday at 1:30 p.m..
