All fourth graders in Springfield Public Schools will be getting a lesson on pioneer life when they attend a special version of Little House on the Prairie: The Musical presented by Springfield Little Theatre.
The visit for all the students is made possible by a partnership between SPS and Any Given Child, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and other community partners.
“Our districtwide fine arts experiences help to ensure that all K-8 students have equitable access to fine arts opportunities in our community,” Breana Kavanaugh, coordinator of fine arts and world language, said in a statement. “These experiences help enhance our students’ educational experiences as we work toward providing them with a well-rounded education.”
The students didn’t see the full production; Springfield Little Theatre did a condensed version that contained most of Act One and the finale of the show.
The show was a special moment for Gray Elementary School fourth grader Layla Morton who is in the cast of the show. Layla’s classmates were among the students attending the performance on Tuesday, October 29th at the Landers Theatre.
