Springfield Man Convicted on Child Pornography Charge

A Springfield man was convicted by a federal jury of receiving and distributing child porn.

Marco Barraza, 27, was found guilty on one charge of receiving and distributing child pornography.

Barraza was reported to law enforcement by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for transmitting child pornography in chat sessions on a Tumblr account in September 2016. In March 2017, officers searched Barraza’s house and seized multiple electronic devices that contained over 600 images of child pornography.

The jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning a guilty verdict.

Barraza will face a minimum of five years in federal prison, a maximum of 20 years in federal prison. The final sentence will be handed down after a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Service.
