Residents throughout Springfield and Greene County will be sporting a black eye today.
The fifth annual iCare event, a community-wide domestic violence awareness event where community leaders and individuals a black bandage under their eye along with a button that reads “ask me why iCare.”
Harmony House, the organization hosting the iCare event, estimates at least 15,000 people will be sporting the “black eye” on Friday, October 25. The event is the kick off of a series of events in the community including a 5K/10K Walk/Run on Saturday October 26th.
Several large community organizations are participating in the iCare campaign, including Prime, Inc., SRC, McDonald’s, Boys and Girls Clubs, Central Bank and Central Trust, Mercy, and Cox Health.
