If you were seeing orange in Republic on Saturday, you weren’t alone as the annual Pumpkin Daze celebration brought record size pumpkins to downtown.
Two state record pumpkins were put on display, including one tipping the scales at 1,677 pounds and the other at 1,798, one of which shattered the state record by over 100 pounds.
Thousands attended the event which featured vendor and craft booths, performances by local musicians and dancers, a pie-eating contest, and a pet parade.
“Pumpkin Days in Republic…was tremendous this year,” Greene County Commissioner Harold Bengsch posted on social media along with a photo standing next to a 1,600 pound pumpkin.
Bengsch had a booth at the festival.
