For one night at Pizza Ranch in Branson, the question for customers was “do you want a side of charity with that?”
The Branson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association held a fundraising night for the police department. Branson Police and Fire Department members attended along with family members and Branson aldermen were also in attendance.
“Seeing the Branson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association actively engaged in fundraising on behalf of the police department is a testament to the importance of this exceptional program,” former Branson Mayor Karen Best said in a statement. “When citizens work together with the police department, our community becomes stronger.”
The Citizens Police Academy was founded in June 2019 in an attempt to help the community better understand the challenges faced by the Branson police department. Citizens receive education and training in Procedural Justice, Recruiting, Hiring & Training, Patrol Procedures, First Aid and CPR, Tactical Operations, K-9, Special Event Planning, and DWI/Traffic Enforcement.
Any Branson area residents interested in going through the Citizens’ Academy or who want more information about the program can contact the Branson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association on their Facebook page.
