Springfield Public Schools Announces Flu Vaccine Clinics

The Springfield Public School district will be offering free flu shots to students.

The flu clinics will be held in conjunction with Jordan Valley Community Health Center, supported by CoxHealth, Mercy, and the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

Students whose parents want them to get the shot have to fill out a consent form that has to be returned to the child’s school nurse.

Health officials note that while the actual start of the flu season is hard to predict, statistics show that seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October. The Centers for Disease Control recommends all Americans get a flu shot by the end of October.
