A Brookline Station man is dead after a car he was helping to get started rolled over him.
Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators say Paul S. Martin, 59, was attempting to help his 89-year-old mother get a car out of park when the accident took place.
Martha Martin reportedly had her foot on the accelerator as Paul Martin shifted the car out of park, causing him to be pulled forward where he then fell and was struck by the vehicle.
The vehicle continued to roll into a storm shelter down the road from the accident site.
Paul Martin was pronounced dead at a Springfield hospital while his mother was reportedly not injured in the accident.
