Drury opened the 2019 season with a 1-0 win over 22nd ranked Northeastern State at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex in Springfield on Friday.
Pablo Berrogain scored in the 50th minute for the only goal of the game. Francesco Ferri found Berrogain on a deflection in front of the net and the senior from Zaragoza, Spain gave the Panther a 1-0 lead.
Yannick Landers, a junior from South Africa, had four saves and posted a shutout in his first career start for Drury.
Northeastern State owned a 16-7 advantage in shots and outshot the Panthers 10-2 in the first half.
The win helped Drury avenge a 5-0 loss to the RiverHawks last year in Oklahoma but was their seventh win in nine games all-time against Northeastern State.
The Panthers are back at home on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. game against Ouachita Baptist at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
