Springfield based relief charity Convoy of Hope announced they have already deployed supplies and personnel to Florida in advance of Hurricane Dorian.
The storm, which is expected to make landfall Monday as a Category 3 or 4 hurricane, is expected to cause significant damage, knock out power, and endanger clean water supplies.
“The team plans to deploy from Springfield over the holiday weekend to be stationed in an area of impact as soon as it’s safe to do so,” Convoy of Hope spokesman Jeff Nene said in a statement. “This will ensure Convoy is positioned to help those in need as soon as possible.”
Convoy of Hope will meet with area partners upon arrival to provide supplies as needed to rescue efforts and relief agencies.
