Evangel opened its 2019 season with a straight-set victory over Lindenwood-Belleville at the Evangel Preseason Classic.
Sophomore transfer Daisy Eklund paced the Crusaders offensively with a match-high ten kills, followed by junior Bridget Petersen with eight and freshman Gabby Massengale with six. Petersen led the Crusaders with a .471 hitting percentage.
Senior Jordan Stacey and sophomore transfer McKenna Miller split time at the setter position, with Stacey doling out 17 assists to go with 12 from Miller.
On the defensive end, Petersen, Massengale, and sophomore transfer Regan Ansley all had two blocks.
Evangel continues tournament play at the Evangel Preseason Classic on Friday, August 16 with two games. The first at 9:30 a.m. against Oklahoma City Stars, followed by a noon matchup against the University of Mobile.
