Drury won the first of four games on their exhibition tour of Canada with a 69-62 win over Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 24-13 lead after the first quarter but had to hang on as the Ravens pulled within one, 57-56, going into the fourth period. Drury held Carleton to just six fourth-quarter points to pull away for a seven-point win.
Drury senior Hailey Diestelkamp led all scorers with 17 points while pulling down 13 rebounds and collecting four steals. Freshman Alana Findley, playing in a Drury uniform for the first time in her career, had 14 points. The Fair Grove product went 6 for 8 from the field and picked up three steals. Paige Robinson added 13 points, and Azia Lynch chipped in 10.
All 15 players that made the trip for Drury saw action in the game.
Carleton, a public university with an enrollment of more than 30,000, was led by Marlee Ball’s 16 points. The Ravens committed 30 turnovers and shot 39 percent from the field hitting 22 of their 56 shots.
The Lady Panthers went 38 percent from the field connecting on 27 of their 72 tries and held a 37-29 rebounding advantage.
The same two teams play one another again tomorrow night at 6 p.m. (central) in Ottawa, Ontario.
