Springfield Walmart Gunman Identified as Dmitriy Andreychenko

Springfield police confirmed the man arrested after entering a Springfield Walmart Neighborhood Market with a tactical rifle is 20-year-old Dmitriy Andreychenko.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office jail population website, Andreychenko is being held pending a charge of a 1st Degree Terrorist Threat.

Andreychenko entered the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Republic Road just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, wearing a body armor and military fatigues. He was carrying what police termed loaded “tactical weapons.”

He walked around the store openly displaying the weapons while talking to other customers. A store manager pulled the fire alarm to evacuate the store and Andreychenko reportedly continued to stay things to the fleeing people while recording himself on a cell phone.

After leaving the store, Andreychenko was confronted by a former firefighter who pulled a concealed weapon and held the gunman until police arrived and took Andreychenko into custody.

Police say that Andreychenko had over 100 rounds of ammunition on him at the time of his arrest.
