Drury Lady Panthers Assistant Gets Head Coaching Job at Roosevelt University

Drury Women’s head coach Molly Miller’s coaching tree just grew another branch.

Assistant coach Emily Ragsdale has been named the new head coach at Roosevelt University, an NAIA school in Chicago.

Ragsdale spent two years as a graduate assistant before being promoted to a full-time assistant coach last year. During her time as an assistant, Drury had an 96-8 record, 52-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and won three GLVC titles.

“Hard to come to terms with this one spreading her wings,” Drury women’s head coach Molly Miller said on Twitter Thursday night. “There isn’t a more deserving person to run her own program in her hometown. Derek Cros & I love her to pieces & she will not only be missed by our Panther family, but my own. Can’t wait to watch Roosevelt dominate next year!”

The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association earlier this year named Ragsdale as one of their “30 Under 30”, honoring the best young women’s basketball coaches at every level of college basketball.

“The words ‘thank you’ seem so little when it comes to the thanking this university, coach Miller and the women’s basketball program,” Ragsdale said in a statement. “Three years, 96 wins, and a couple of championships don’t compare to the impact the people here made on me. From coach Miller to each and every player I’ve had the opportunity to coach – thank you from the bottom of my heart as you all have impacted me in ways I would’ve never imagined when I moved here.”

Ragsdale will stay on with the team for the next two weeks as the team participates in a tour of Canada.
