A nine-time National League All Star will be behind the plate for the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field Thursday night.
The Cardinals announced the rehab assignment for Yadier Molina was extended to include time in Springfield. Molina has been on the injured list since July 11th.
Molina had been hitting .261 with 4 HR and 36 RBI in 71 games when he went on the I.L.. Molina ranks among the Cardinals’ all time top 10 in games played, hits, doubles, RBIs, at-bats, and extra base hits.
Molina had been on rehab with the Memphis Redbirds for the last four games, with two hits in eight at bats, a home run and five RBIs.
The Cardinals have a four-game homestand with the Arkansas Travelers this weekend.
