Top Springfield Restaurateurs & Four Restaurants Owe Over $477,000 in Taxes

A pair of Springfield’s most famous restaurateurs owe the IRS part of more than $477,000 according to tax liens.

Black Sheep Restaurant, Black Sheep at Chesterfield Village, Char Steakhouse & Oyster Bar/Touch LLC, and Flame LLC were cited along with Billy and Sara Jalili, co-owners of two of the restaurants.

Initially reported by the Springfield Business Journal, federal tax liens were filed against the restaurants and co-owners of two of those restaurants on July 2. The Jalilis owe more than $147,000 of the total.

The Jalilis established themselves as leaders in the Springfield restaurant scene during the 1990s with Bijan’s. They began Touch in 2005 and have owned multiple other businesses in the area.

The Daily Events reported the tax liens are related to unpaid payroll tax withholding and unpaid income tax.
