Former State Senator Dan Clemens has died at age 74.

Fraker Funeral Home in Marshfield confirmed the passing of the Webster County native, who served as a Republican State Senator for the 20th District from 2002 until 2010. At the time, the 20th district covered Webster, Douglas, and Christian Counties with parts of Greene County.

Clemens attended the University of Missouri and obtained a Master’s Degree in Agriculture. He operated a third-generation family farm in the Marshfield area.

“Missouri lost a strong advocate for agriculture with the passing of former Senator Dan Clemens,” Governor Mike Parson said on social media.

In addition to his service in the State Senate, Clemens also served on the Marshfield School Board, the board of the Missouri Farmers Association, and Agriculture Advisory Commission.
