The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the names of the children who died in an auto crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate 44.
The Patrol says Olivia Dobos, 8, Angelina Dobos, 7, and Julia Dobos, 6, died when they were thrown from a van they were riding in after the van collided with a semi-truck that was pulling back onto I-44 from the shoulder.
All three children were reportedly wearing seatbelts but were still thrown from the van.
The Patrol report says that a van driven by 35-year-old Claudia Dobos of Clever was forced to swerve when the semi-truck pulled into the highway in her van’s path as she tried to merge onto the highway. The van ran off the highway and struck the cable barrier in the median.
In addition to the deaths, six other members of the Dobos family were injured in the crash, with all of them wearing seatbelts. All were taken to Cox South Hospital for treatment and one 12-year-old was admitted with moderate injuries.
