CoxHealth has announced they are launching a medical assistant apprenticeship program that will pay those attending classes.
The program will also offer those who successfully complete all requirements a chance at a job in the CoxHealth system.
“CoxHealth is committed to helping grow health care talent locally, and this is one way we’re working to do that,” Brock Shamel, administrative director at CoxHealth, said in a statement. “Participants in this program will be able to train completely for free, and get paid while they do it, and then go on to start a brand new career with many opportunities to advance.”
The 16-week program will include classes at OTC and time training in CoxHealth facilities. Medical assistants receive training in a wide variety of functions, from clinical and front office to work in clinics, urgent care facilities or physician offices.
