A top local music venue and restaurant was damaged in a fire the early hours of Independence Day.
The Springfield Fire Department was called to Krave Seafood & Oyster Bar after midnight on Thursday morning after someone reported smoke coming from the building. Firefighters had the fire under control in about half an hour.
The restaurant was closed at the time as the owners were giving their employees time off for “employee appreciation.” The restaurant was scheduled to reopen Monday but that reopening is on hold.
“Our hearts are heavy, but our staff is safe, and thankfully no one was hurt at all,” a Krave spokesman posted on social media. “Updates are still trickling in and we’ll let you know when we know what our timeline and options look like, but the interior damage is devastating. Thanks for your patience and concern, and we’ll keep you all posted.”
The investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing.
