If you are a resident of the Walnut Grove R-5 School District, and you’re unable to be at the polls on August 6th, your first chance to vote absentee in a special election opens tomorrow.
Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller announced the absentee voting for Walnut Grove R-5’s special election will run from Tuesday, July 25th through August 5th. Voters can pick up their absentee ballot at the clerk’s office in the Greene County Archives/Election Center Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m..
The special ballot issue is a request from the Walnut Grove R-5 School District Board of Education to raise the tax levy by $1.07 per $100 of assessed value through 2039. The levy would increase from $4.0530 to $5.1230 over the 20 year period if approved by voters.
The district says on the ballot measure the funds would be used for “implementation of safety and security measures district-wide; the site development, construction, renovation, equipping and furnishing of new elementary school classrooms and administration offices; the development of a new drop-off/pick-up lane; the replacement of mechanical systems; and the completion of other remodeling and repair improvements to existing facilities.”
Anyone with questions on absentee voting is asked to call the Greene County Clerk’s office at 417-868-4060.
