The Springfield Police Department has announced the results of a program aimed at stopping bad drivers who pose a threat to motorcyclists in the community.
“Operation Safe Ride” took place Saturday June 8, 2019 and was aimed at targeting drivers who made moving violations that could be especially hazardous to cyclists in the city.
The department reported stopping 108 motorists during the operation. Officers gave out 71 citations and 83 warnings for both moving and non-moving violations.
Officers also made two arrests for driving under the influence.
The operation was funded through a grant by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
