MoDOT announced today the Long Creek Bridge over Table Rock Lake, which was expected to be closed at least a month, has reopened to traffic three weeks ahead of schedule.
A release from MoDOT says the combination of three bridge crews working 12 to 14 hour days and less deterioration than expected on the bridge allowed for the early reopening.
The bridge’s closure resulted in detours that could have added close to an hour to the commute of anyone who regularly used the bridge.
The bridge crews who made the repairs said they had pre-planned for replacements of steel in 24 locations and to find additional deterioration on steel under the bridge deck, but that only 22 locations had to be replaced and there was no additional structural deterioration.
The 25-ton weight restriction on the bridge, which had been in place for months before the closure, has also been lifted by MoDOT.
