Tyler Snodgrass, who began his career in Springfield before residency in Chicago’s comedy scene, is returning to Springfield for a one-night pop-up show during Blue Room Comedy Club’s third anniversary weekend.
Snodgrass honed his craft with performances in the Skinny Improv, the Mystery Hour and stand-up opportunities around the city.
“I…love to do comedy here,” Snodgrass told OI before an event earlier this year. “I think Springfield has great comedy audiences.”
“Springfield did more than anything else was give me the chance to practice just being on stage. Whether my jokes worked or totally bombed…and they did, a lot!…I was still getting practice talking in front of real audiences, and I was building confidence. Being comfortable on stage can even take the funniest people years to do, and Springfield eliminated my stage fright before I even moved to a more competitive city.”
Since his days in Springfield, Snodgrass has co-created the comedy show and podcast, “We Still Like You“, and has been called “compelling” and “fun to watch” by the Chicago Tribune.
Snodgrass’s performance is part of the third anniversary weekend of the Blue Room Comedy Club inside Billiard’s in downtown Springfield. The club is celebrating with Comedy Central veteran Todd Barry Friday and Saturday nights.
