Domestic Incident Leads to Shooting in Springfield

Springfield police responded to a domestic violence call in the 1700 block of North Oak Grove that turned into a shooting.

Lt. David Meyer told the press that they received a call around 10:47 a.m. about a domestic situation where a male shot a female next to an SUV in the 1700 block of North Oak Grove. The shooter and victim did not live at the location of the shooting, but police believe it’s a relative of the people involved in the incident.

A SPD officer entering the residence where the shooter was initially believed to be hiding.

The shooter then retreated toward a house in the 1800 block of North Oak Grove where the couple was reported to live. Police had been given conflicting reports about whether the shooter was inside the building, so they proceeded as if he was inside and took all precautions for a barricaded suspect.

Police then entered and cleared the house, showing the suspect was not inside. The suspect, Jeremy Ryan Williamson, was caught in Webster County around 2:30 p.m. and is being transported back to Springfield.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

Residents in the home where the shooting took place would not speak with the media.
