The Tulsa Drillers (30-26) claimed the series opener at ONEOK Field with a 5-1 win against the Springfield Cardinals (23-34) on Monday night.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
-Tulsa LF Chris Parmelee swung the Drillers ahead, 2-0, with a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the first.
-After CF D.J. Peters added an RBI single in the fourth inning, Tulsa plated two final runs with an RBI base hit from SS Gavin Lux and an RBI sac fly by RF Cody Thomas in the fifth to open it to 5-0.
-The Cardinals got on the board in the seventh. SS Kramer Robertson and CF Randy Arozarena reached on singles around a walk from 3B Evan Mendoza to load the bases with no outs. Robertson darted home on a groundball from INF Rayder Ascanio, but the Drillers turned a double play on the ball and the Cardinals only got the one run in the frame, shaving it to 5-1.
-3B Evan Mendoza reached base three times with a single and two walks, extending his hitting streak to eight games.
-SS Kramer Robertson added a fifth game to his hitting streak with a single and the lone run scored for Springfield.
-RHP Hector Mendoza (1.1 IP), RHP Connor Jones (1.0 IP) and LHP Jacob Patterson (1.0 IP) each provided scoreless relief for the Cardinals.
