Widow of Fallen Deputy Surprised with Backyard Makeover

Deputy Aaron Roberts wanted to give his wife and daughter a special backyard on their home. He had a plan for a deck, garden and more so they could spend time together as a family.

Deputy Roberts was never able to see that dream as he died in the line of duty nine months ago. Today, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and community members were able to take Deputy Roberts’ dream and make it a reality for his widow and daughter.

The department teamed with Michael Ormsby and The Deck Company to surprise Kim Roberts and her daughter Lydia with a dream backyard makeover. The new backyard includes a deck, hot tub, fire pit, new furniture and two gardens: one for Kim, one for Lydia.

The Sheriff’s Office and volunteers performed the overhaul of the yard this weekend while Roberts and her daughter were out of town.

Roberts said the backyard has always been a special place for her family and the makeover was the fulfillment of her late husband’s dream.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office said that contributions to the makeover were donated by The Deck Company, Meeks, Home Depot, Maschino’s, B&B Siding, E&M Electric, Spring River Turf, and Ruff Life Dog Treats.
