Drury outfielder Jacy Ummel was named a First Team All-Midwest Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Ummel, a junior from Hutchison, Kansas finished the year ranked second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in hitting with a .398 batting average. She was also second in the GLVC in on-base percentage (.493), runs scored (54), hits (74), and walks (29). Ummel’s 74 hits set a Drury single-season record previously held by Stacy Razo, who had 71 in 2011 and she hit four home runs with 39 runs batted in this season. Ummel was also a First Team All-GLVC selection and a First Team All-Midwest Region selection by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association.
Ummel’s honor marks the first time Drury has had a First Team All-Midwest Region selection by the NFCA since 2011 when Andi Anti earned the award.
The Panthers ended the year 36-23, their 36 wins matched a program record, and they won their first postseason game in the team’s 12-year history going 2-2 in the GLVC tournament. In addition to Ummel, Drury is scheduled to return 14 letter winners and nine starters to next year’s team.
