The Chief Judge of Springfield’s Municipal Court Division, Todd Thornhill, has been given the George Pittman Award by the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association.
The award is given to judges whose contributions “exceed those normally expected of officers and board members.”
This is the 10th time in the Association’s 54-year history the award has been given but the first time to a jurist from southwest Missouri.
Judge Thornhill is the first municipal judge to serve as a chairman for a Supreme Court of Missouri committee, heading the Committee on Practice and Procedure since 2018. Thornhill also has served a year as the Association’s president and as editor of the Association’s publication, Benchmark, since 2002.
The award was given at the Association’s 54th Annual Conference.
Thornhill was named Second Division judge in 1993 and promoted to Chief Judge the following year.
