Me Too Springfield has announced they will be holding a special event on June 1, 2019 for community faith leaders to help train them in dealing with members of their congregation who are survivors of sexual assault and abuse.
The training will take place at Schweitzer Brentwood Library starting at 1 p.m..
“As an SBU grad and a follower of Jesus, it is very important to me that the church is a place where victims of sexual assault find help and hope in their time of desperation,” MTS President Jordan Harris said in a statement.
Part of the training will consist of teaching faith leaders to learn “how to better support survivors in their congregations, how to respond when confided in by a survivor, and how to best support the faith/journey of a survivor.”
