Missouri State has announced the hiring of a new dean of McQueary College of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Mark Smith will take over on August 1.
“Health-related careers are in high demand, and so are the degrees that open doors to those opportunities,” Provost Frank Einhellig said in a statement. “We sought a dean who would work with the faculty and with the health community in assuring that our programs are meeting the needs of our students as they fill critical roles in health care.”
The interim dean, Letitia White-Minnis, will return to her previous associate dean position.
Smith earned the position from an initial pool of 35 applicants. He has been serving as the associate dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado.
Smith earned his doctorate in physical education and sport instruction from the University of Georgia. He earned a masters at Western Carolina University and his bachelor’s from Brunel University College in London, England.
