The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Softball World Series will be in Springfield starting next Thursday, May 23rd and running through the following Wednesday.
The event is hosted by Evangel University and the Springfield Sports Commission.
In addition to the tournament itself, the week long festivities will feature the NAIA Champions of Character event on May 21. Champions of Character is a community service event where members from all ten teams in the tournament will visit the Boys & Girls Club units in Springfield.
“The values go well beyond the playing field to the daily decisions of our youth,” the NAIA said in a statement. “These character values help young people — and those associated with their development — make good choices in all aspects of their lives and reflect the true spirit of competition.”
The ten schools in the tournament are:
- Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies
- Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders
- Marian Knights
- Mobile Rams
- Oklahoma City University Stars
- Oregon Tech Owls
- Oklahoma Science & Arts University Drovers
- Southern Oregon Raiders
- Valley City State Vikings
- Vanguard Lions
Games will be taking place at the Killian Sports Complex in a double-elimination format.
